virus scanners and tools

What exactly is a computer virus? What is the difference between a virus and spyware and a trojan?

Well, the short and simple answer is that:
  • a virus is a program that runs on your machine, with the sole intention of doing some damage (like a human virus).
  • spyware is a program that runs on your machine, with the sole intention of gathering information (essentially spying on you).
  • a trojan is a program that runs on your machine, with the sole intention of allowing someone access to your machine (like the Trojan horse)
Due to the nature of computer viruses, it is no longer enough to have a single tool to perform the simple checking and removal of viruses. Not all anti-virus engines will catch every single virus/trojan/spyware.

DAGDA solutions provide a wide range of free virus scanners and tools for use in the small business and office. A combination of these should be sufficient to combat most threats
